Horizon Shift 81 review round-up

Horizon Shift 81 was released for Nintendo Switch on December 20th 2018 and is available for 10 bucks.

Should you get it?

Two Beard Gaming gives it a solid 7,5/10 and comes with the following guidance:
"Horizon Shift ’81 is a welcomed addition to the Nintendo Switch library. It provides a fun and polished experience that for many (us oldies) acts as a reminder of just why we started playing games in the first place. For newcomers it offers enough in the way of gameplay modes to keep things exciting and you coming back for more. The price point is perfectly positioned to make this a recommended purchase!"

switchaboo goes for a 77% score and concludes:
"If you’re a fan of retro arcade shooters, or simply own a Flip Grip and want a great game to play on it with, then Horizon Shift ‘81 is a must buy! This game has clear intentions on what it wants to be and it transcends in its simplicity. The horizon mechanic brings forth a style of gameplay that’s never been done before (to my knowledge), and it executes it perfectly. However, the lacking in tactile feedback is a little disappointing as it makes the game feel hollow and the harsh difficulty spike may lead to a few controllers being thrown (maybe play it in TV Mode from Stage 25 onwards). You have been warned!"

Defunct Games dials it up to an A- rating and parts with:
"Much like the name suggests, Horizon Shift '81 is a fun throwback to an era when games like Space Invaders ruled the arcades. It's also an exceptional sequel that not only improves on the original, but fully realizes the potential of its killer gimmick. With six different modes, tons of power-ups and 36 stages of challenging bad guys, there's a lot to explore in Flump Studios' newest shooter. This is one of the best shoot 'em ups available on the Nintendo Switch."
