Neon Aileron, new shmup launched yesterday on Steam

Neon Aileron is a retro-style shooter where enemies spawn to the beat of the music. Neon Aileron was created to evoke memories of playing older shooters that pre-date the bullet-hell genre. We call this bullet-lite, because the focus is on shooting enemies instead of dodging complex bullet patterns. Neon Aileron is great for players who are new to the shoot 'em up genre or those who haven't played a horizontal shooter in a while. The forgiving damage system and multiple difficulty levels allow the game to scale to the player's skill level. Switch to the Hard difficulty when you are ready for more of a challenge.

Local 2 player co-op and an included soundtrack when you buy the game sounds nice too.

Deathsmiles II-X review from Bullet Heaven

Technically posted on new years eve in the US, we had already passed that in my time zone so instead of ending the year with this review i'm starting up 2020 with it. I'm hung-over but otherwise ready for a new year of news!

Blast from the (recent) past: The Cave Collection unboxing

Unboxing of the Cave Collection Kan, the second and most recent of the Cave Collections for the Xbox 360. Kan has an extra game included compared to the first edition, Akai Katana, but doesn't include the soundtracks for the games which are in a separate box included with the first collection.
The Cave Collections for Xbox 360 were released in 2013 and 2014 respectively and are quite pricey.

Besides getting the collection you also need a JP Xbox 360 or a modded 360 machine to play some of the games as they are decidedly region locked. Let's hope all these games get re-released on current consoles.

Mythical Xbox One STG Natsuki Chronicles gets December 25th release date

Natsuki Chronicles has been teased for Xbox One for a long time with some suspecting this was never actually going to be released. But now developers Qute has announced a December 25th release date for this (so far) Xbox One exclusive shmup and you can pre-order it. Seeing as the Xbox One is dying a quick and painful death when it comes to actual sales in Japan I think this title will jump to one or more of the other consoles in the not too distant future - or face a similar fate.

Shmups on Switch reviews Sturmwind EX

For a game that started out on Jaguar, it sure has come a long way. And yes, of course I've played it on my Jaguar!

Twin-sticker Xeno Crisis is out on literally everything now

After being successfully Kickstarted Xeno Crisis is now shipping for Sega MegaDrive, Sega Dreamcast, Neo Geo MVS/AES, Nintendo Switch, Sony Playstation 4 and Microsofts Xbox One (did I forget a platform?). I forgot a platform: Steam!

In a lovely twist you can buy just the game as a ROM for MegaDrive or a CD image for Dreamcast for people who just want to play the game without the added bulk (and wait for) of packaging.

The soundtrack is also available on vinyl and CD.
