Sisters Royale has been available for some time for both Nintendo's shmup-machine and Sony's good old PlayStation 4 and a new review is always fun.

Sisters Royale goes physical, pre-order Feb. 23rd

Strictly Limited Games just announced that they will release physical editions of Sisters Royal(e) for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch and that pre-orders will begin February 23rd.

Or as they put it:
Released for the Japanese market back in 2018, the story driven Sisters Royal has since been localized for an English language western release and will be available through the eShop and PSN starting today!

As a spiritual successor to the legendary Castle of Shikigami series, Sisters Royal features everything you'd come to expect from a game by stellar japanese dev AlfaSystem. It's vertical side-scrolling gameplay features the following...

The contents of the Collector's Edition will be announced at a later date, closer to when the pre-order goes live, but please expect the same high quality SLG Collector's Editions as you've grown accustomed to. :)

M2 wish to make it clear that their new release of CAVEs ESP.Ra.De should have the moniker "Psy" as opposed to "Psi".

Sisters Royale, a previously Switch-exclusive shmup from the makers of Shikigami no Shiro, is heading for PlayStation 4 with a cool bonus: a physical release available to pre-order now.

Release date remains at January 30th 2020. Be sure to get your order in!

Sisters Royale goes PlayStation 4 in 2020

First available for Nintendo Switch in June last year, Sisters Royale is getting a PlayStation 4 release on January 30th 2020. It's a great game so be sure to check it out!

DLC coming for Sisters Royale

Japan-only Nintendo Switch shmup Sisters Royale is about to get a DLC, with amongst other things a new character called OZ.

Sisters Royale is from the team that brought us the Shikigami no Shiro games (wouldn't they be ripe for a collection for present-day consoles?) in the past so if that style appeals to you, there's more of it here. If this never makes it to the west remember that the Switch is region-free. Just make a japanese account, grab an eShop card from Play-Asia and get going!

I'm currently on vacation and don't update as frequently. That doesn't mean the barrage of news stops though, it just means i'll swoop in once a week or so and summarize but don't be sad, it's just three more weeks. ;)

Super Destronaut DX releases on Switch today.

Gunbird 2 is back in the Nintendo eShop in EU and will re-appear on the NA store shortly.

Studio Mudprints who makes all those lovely video reviews of shmups need funding to get a complete Dreamcast shmup library so they can cover that lovely period of gaming in depth. Please help out, there's 10 days left.

Bullet hell title RXN - Raijin - for Switch had an update that adds video support, you can now record and share videos from the game.

Aksys games has announced that their shmup Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax (there's a mouthful) is coming to Switch.


Sisters Royale has been updated so you can rotate the screen left and right, making it compatible with forthcoming magic Switch accessory Flip Grip.

Namco Museum is getting a retail release on Switch, Pac-Man Champiosnhip Edition 2 Plus and Namco Museum will be released together as Namco Museum Arcade Pac and will include the original Namco Museum games you know and love from the eShop release.

SNK 40th AnniversaryCollection will be released for Switch in November in both NA (the 13th) and EU (the 16th).

Surprise! Sisters Royale released on JP Switch eShop

Alfa System, the makers of the Castle of Shikigami series of shmups, just surprised everyone and released a new shmup on the japanese Switch eShop; Sisters Royale. It's a vertical shooter with (now obligatory) tate support.

The story:

A new vertical scroll shooting game makes its debut in a battle royale where five sisters compete for one man!

Choose from one of five individual sisters and use standard attacks, spirit summons, and bombs to defeat enemies.

Play with exciting systems such as the “Tension Bonus System”—which increases the amount of points acquired and coins dropped depending on the distance between the player, enemies, and enemy bullets—and “Power Shots,” which turns the standard attack into a powerful strike!

Additionally, “Secret Fairies” that doubles the increase rate of the Tension Bonus System for a limited amount of time are hidden throughout each stage.

Use these systems to clear each stage with a high score!
