Shmups on Switch reviews Freedom Finger

The game is out today... and so is this review!

Truxton/Tatsujin available for Android, iOS

Seminal Toaplan shooter Tatsujin (Truxton to us in the west) has launched for iOS and Android under the inspired name Tatsujin classic. The graphics seem stretched but the gameplay looks intact.

Sturmwind goes EX, surfaces on Steam

Sturmwind is a horizontally scrolling shmup released for the SEGA Dreamcast way back in 2013.

But the makers, Duranik, have now gone back and re-tooled the graphics for 4K displays and are prepping for a Steam launch on September 28th with an added EX to the name.

The pitch:
STURMWIND EX is a shoot-em up in the tradition of old arcade games. If it moves - shoot it.
You can play missionmode with all 16 levels with saving your progress with every finished level or arcademode with 6 levels and no continues.

I really like this on the Dreamcast so I'll probably buy it again.

EDIT: It's coming to consoles as well, and Switch is a target.

Blazing Chrome goes physical on PS4/Switch tomorrow

Limited Run Games is at it again, giving us physical artifacts of games. In this case, Blazing Chrome both for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders go live tomorrow, September 27th, 10 am ET.

Exile Squadron coming to Steam

With a release date of November 11th, Exile Squadron is an action-packed, sidescrolling shoot ‘em up, inspired by the classics of the genre. As part of an elite fighter group, you will be granted a huge variety of upgradeable weapons, which you can use to stop the invading Colonial forces. Kill your enemies as fast as possible, collect points, and put your highscore on the online leaderboard.

Deathsmiles & Deathsmiles II being ported to multiple platforms

Siliconera reports that Cave and City Connection has announced that Deathsmiles and Deathsmiles II are being ported to multiple platforms. In my mind that would be PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch but at this stage we just don't know.

Deathsmiles is available on Steam and Xbox 360 and Deathsmiles II has only appeared on Xbox 360 (outside of arcades).

Cave and City Connection also tells us that this is the first wave of planned multiplatform releases of Caves games.

There's no way to get around it: this is FANTASTIC news.
