Ghost Blade returns in HD

Ghost Blade launched in 2015 for the seminal SEGA Dreamcast to some rather harsh criticism about it dropping frames instead of using slowdowns when the bullet curtians appeared.

Hucast has remastered the game and will be releasing it for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam and Wii U(!) and word is that besides the visual overhaul they've rewired some of the shortcomings.

This is one title I'm definately looking forward to. Despite the flaws I like the Dreamcast game.

Designed with a modern graphic style and special effects, Ghost Blade HD also features an awesome 2-player mode! Ghost Blade HD is easy to learn, hard to master.

The Music

The Soundtrack is based on the heydays of Japanese shmups and arcade sounds: Composer Rafael Dyll has already scored several console games (Söldner X-2, Rainbow Moon) and returns to his signature sound with the music featured in Ghost Blade HD. Fusing J-Pop influences and typical 90s synths and with modern production values, Rafael provides an action-packed soundtrack with catchy leads and electronic beats.

The Story

10,000 years ago an Artificial Intelligence known as Shira was built to protect the residents of Mars.
As time passed the AI became corrupted and Shira started to attack the Mars colonies. With no way to defend itself against "Evil Shira", Mars calls for help. The Earth Defense Force fleet fights its way to "Evil Shira" and uses powerful lasers to destroy it. However, "Evil Shira" secretly had a backup that flees into space and takes over an abandoned space station at the outskirts of the solar system.
When the EDF notices the escape they send their bravest fighter after "Evil Shira". You are this pilot, and your mission is to destroy "Evil Shira" before it can complete its new attack force and threaten the existence of the entire universe.

If you ordered a physical copy of REZ Infinite for PlayStation 4 before Dec. 8 you can send for a free reversible cover insert.

It is different from other PS4 releases in a few lovely ways:
  • Thicker paper stock (for durability)
  • Premium Coating (for a smooth touch)
  • HOLOGRAPHIC FOIL imprint (that is simply... AWESOME!)

Dat Raizing/Eighting DLC pack for DBCS?

The 4th DLC pack will be flying into action on 19th February!
PSN (PS4 & Vita): Links available on launch.
DLC pack 4 features 3 ships from 8ing games: Battle Garegga, Mahoudaisakusen/Sorcer Striker and Soukyuugurentai/Terra Diver. Once again each one features both the original music plus remixes from some of the best shooting game composers in Japan.
Battle Garegga
The PS4 version has been receiving high praise thanks to the wizards at M2 and their Shot Triggers label, so get ready to dive into battle courtesy of Grev’s interpretation of Garegga in DariusBurst CS! The DLC will allow you to play the Wild Snail, with its option formation and flame thrower. Grev have even added the medal collection system from Garegga!
Remix tracks courtesy of Nob Shioda (Recca, Isolated Warrior, Fastest Lap)
- Into the Leaden Clouds
- Subversive Awareness GaRecca Remix
Mahoudaisakusen/Sorcer Striker
8ing/Raizing's first release featured a sword and sorcery + steampunk mashup, so Miyamoto, the samurai dragon should feel right at him battling robotic space fish!
Remix tracks courtesy of Motoi Sakuraba (Granada, Star Ocean, Tales of series)
Soukyuugurentai/Terra Diver
8ing's take on the lock-on shooting game mechanic saw them offer players a switchable dual system and combined with a bomb mechanic, all of which are on offer in DariusBurst, with the TO-RYU ship.
Remix tracks courtesy of Kohta Takahashi (Ridge Racer series, Ace Combat series)
- Skies Above Ohta-ku DARIUS Remix
- Descent into the Clouds DARIUS Remix

Dodonpachi Unlimited (for iOS/Android) announced

CAVE and their partner on mobile platforms, Mobirix, have announced the second danmaku game from the cooperation: Dodonpachi Unlimited.

This follows on Mushihimesama/Bug Princess Gold Label released late last year for iOS.
Where the new Mushihimesama lifted graphics and mechanics from the Mushihimesama games to build a fresh grindfest on the concept it looks like Dodonpachi Unlimited has lifted graphics and mechanics from Dodonpachi Ichimen-banchou, the previous mobile Dodonpachi grindfest.

We wont have to wait to long to find out if its all its cracked up to be, it should release this month.

Most of the hardcore shmup crowd ignore these games because of their touch-based mechanics but I find some of them quite enjoyable for quick sessions on the commute to and from work. As usual - play what YOU like.
