Darius Cozmic Collection going digital in September

The awesome Darius Cozmic Collection, so far only available in physical form in Japan for Nintendo Switch, is coming to the Nintendo eShop in both Standard and "Consumer" editions, for 5200 and 6500 Yen respectively.

Still no info on the collection going west in physical or digital form though so make sure to create a japanese eShop account and get it. The Switch is region-free.

Buzz Kill Zero cheat sheet

If you're getting into Buzz Kill Zero, here's a cheat sheet to help you play the game:

Vasara Collection review round-up

With Vasara Collection debuting for download on (I guess) every platform today what could be more appropriate than a round-up of reviews?

Here's GooGame's review. The Xbox Hub quite likes it. Playstation Enthusiast seem enthusiastic. Gamespew seem impressed with the Xbox One version. Playstation Country is a little put off by how hard the game is. Remote Play reviews the PS Vita version and it's apparently a sweet package there too.

A new Psikyo Collection variety appears! (Still on Switch)

With the Psikyo Collection of shooting games are already available from Taiwan (or "Asia") and Japan in physical form (available from Play-Asia as usual) NIS has surprised everyone and announced an american release: Psikyo Shooting Stars Alpha and Bravo (both coming 2020).

Like the Japanese release it's spread over 2 physical releases (the "asian" version is spread over 3 releases) but this is the first time soundtrack CDs are a part of the package which makes me think I will probably re-buy them.

Metal Slug news: 3 getting limited release and the series getting a book

Limited Run Games made a surprise announcement that Metal Slug 3 is getting a limited release for both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita THIS WEEKEND.

Seeing as the Metal Slug games are available on every platform known to man this might not be such a big deal. They will have a regular and a classic edition with the classic being twice as expensive and:
The Classic Edition includes:
  • Functional, classic, fully licensed, and SNK approved Neo-Geo shockbox designed to hold and store a PS4 or PS Vita game case (or one of each)
  • Physical Metal Slug 3 game for the PS4/PS Vita
  • Neo-Geo AES inspired retro cover sheet
  • AES formatted manual designed to fit in the shockbox manual pouch
  • 3 high-gloss art cards
  • 18 x 24 inch poster
Bitmap Books has Metal Slug: The Ultimate History, a 400+ pages book of, well, the history of the Metal Slug series. If you're a fan this will probably be right up your alley. Pre-orders open today.

Irem's XMultiply available for Switch in Japan

Apparently released today. XMultiply (also known as Image Fight) is a game similar to Irem's monster hit R-Type. As the Arcade Archives releases usually roll out worldwide we can assume that this game too will be available in the west sometime in the near future.

M2s port of ESP.RA.DE has a release date: Dec 19th

M2 said they were aiming for  a late 2019 release and now they've committed to December 19th as can be seen on the official website.

It will be physical for both PS4 and Switch:

I'm confident M2 will do this release justice.

Some retro news (C64 & Atari 2600)

Blastopia DX is a new shmup for Commodore 64 out now.

That Galaga for Atari 2600 I rambled about earlier is now known as Galagon (I think the name change is for copyright reasons) and available to download for both PAL and NTSC machines. The creators state: PLEASE NOTE: If you plan on playing this in an emulator, you must use the latest version of Stella (6.0.1) or Stellarator.  The game works on the Harmony (and Encore) with BIOS 1.0.5 or higher.

DLC coming for Sisters Royale

Japan-only Nintendo Switch shmup Sisters Royale is about to get a DLC, with amongst other things a new character called OZ.

Sisters Royale is from the team that brought us the Shikigami no Shiro games (wouldn't they be ripe for a collection for present-day consoles?) in the past so if that style appeals to you, there's more of it here. If this never makes it to the west remember that the Switch is region-free. Just make a japanese account, grab an eShop card from Play-Asia and get going!

One-button filipino bullet hell shmup Good Knight in development

Good Knight is being touted as the first one-button filipino bullet hell game. It certainly looks novel enough.

Facebook and Twitter to follow.

Digital Vasara Collection available for pre-order

Gematsu tells us that Vasara HD Collection will debut on Steam on August 13th, Xbox One on August 14th and on Nintendo Switch on August 15th. Still no word on firm dates for PS4 or PS Vita.

Great news if you didn't get your hands on the limited physical release.

Jamestown+ comes to Nintendo Switch

I know, Jamestown has been available on Steam since "forever" (forever in this case is since 2011) and ported to PlayStation 4 as Jamestown+ in 2015. But its about to arrive on Switch, can we hope for a physical (Limited?) release down the road?

Great game anyway, get it!

Game Paradise Cruisin' Mix Tatsujin DLC review from Bullet Heaven

That's quite the title for this post (try saying it fast a few times) but Game Paradise Cruisin' Mix got a couple of DLCs after launch. Here's the Bullet Heaven review of the Tatsujin DLC:

I'm thinking of starting up a Wiki with just Nintendo Switch shmup release information. Really just for my own sanity, there's just so many to keep track of. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.
