Cyber Seraph, a new shmup in development coming to Steam and itch.io, that I wrote about a couple of days ago has a trailer out:

Cyber Seraph is an indie colorful retro shmup where you're pitted against vicious agents of ruin who have devastated your home world. Unlock upgrades and customize your ship, seek out  your foes and exact righteous vengeance! You're your people's last hope.

Release date: sometime in 2020. 

Keys for demo: WASD to move, O to fire, E to restart, Q for window mode. Has controller support, fire with A button (if using Xbox controller). 

Sakura Stars, new shmup coming to Steam on May 21st

The pitch: When hordes of Youkai threaten the world, the Tanukis send a messenger to choose human girls to receive magical powers to defend humanity. They are known as SAKURA STARS.
Take on hordes of youkai in this 8bit horizontal shmup and defend humanity from supernatural beings.
Sakura Stars is a game made on Pico-8, a retro fantasy console with purposeful limitations to simulate an 8-bit era console.

Launches May 21st, on Steam.

Neon Aileron, new shmup launched yesterday on Steam

Neon Aileron is a retro-style shooter where enemies spawn to the beat of the music. Neon Aileron was created to evoke memories of playing older shooters that pre-date the bullet-hell genre. We call this bullet-lite, because the focus is on shooting enemies instead of dodging complex bullet patterns. Neon Aileron is great for players who are new to the shoot 'em up genre or those who haven't played a horizontal shooter in a while. The forgiving damage system and multiple difficulty levels allow the game to scale to the player's skill level. Switch to the Hard difficulty when you are ready for more of a challenge.

Local 2 player co-op and an included soundtrack when you buy the game sounds nice too.

Zunius is a grand-spanking-new psychedelic rogue-like bullethell shooter. Yeah, really. Out today on Steam.

Dezatopia is on its way to Switch and PC

Dezatopia is a new shmup from the makers of Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo.

It's coming Out later this year on Switch and PC and I have no idea why I haven't reported about this earlier. Oh well, better late than never!

Cossanox is a thing and has been bumped to Version 1.1

Cossanox has flown well under my radar but demos for Windows. Linux and Mac is available and with the newly launched version 1.1 has added 4-player co-op and a new ship.



The full game is available for 6 USD (or more if you like).

The reboot you've been waiting for? Cotton!

With reboots and new entries in classic shmup series seemingly being announced every other day, another classic series is getting the (re)boot: Cotton.

Tentatively (and might I add imaginatively) titled Cotton Reboot is coming for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC (I'm assuming they mean Windows). It's based on the X68000 version of the game.

Nova Drift is out soon (March 27th) on Steam

Nova Drift is a new RPG-ish shmup being released on Steam.

"Nova Drift distills the mechanical depth of an action RPG into classic arcade space combat. Control an endlessly evolving bio-mechanical ship, face legions of strange and deadly foes, and ride the wake of a dying star across the void."

Freedom Finger is pointing to a release this year

Freedom Finger is a new music-driven shmup announced for PS4, XBone and Steam, to be released in 2019.

Task Force Kampas is out

Task Force Kampas is a new retrostyled shmup for Windows that launched on February 22nd. There's a 2 week launch sale so it's just $2.99 right now and will rise to $4.99 after that.
And yes, that cool soundtrack is available too!

Task Force Kampas is a classic shoot-em-up on steroids. 

The game is inspired by the Golden Age of japanese shmups, and adds new mechanics, randomly generated levels and handcrafted bosses. The game's an endless loop: you can finish it, but also find the way to continue past the ending and get the highest score! 

Space shooters were never that punchy before. Task Force Kampas emphasizes music and game feel to create the perfect game you'd want to spend all your coins into (if that were still a thing, you know.) 

The story revolves about a team of outcasts fighting for their future, who happened to be at the worst place during the Evil Invasion. Can you contain the breach? Can you save the whole universe before it becomes corrupted? More importantly, can you save your friends?

Lumiette, a new danmaku shooter in development

Lumiette - a dream in four layers, is a new danmaku shmup being developed and beta builds are released from time to time, one of those times is now (or, you know, 5 days ago).

Even in beta form the game is available for Linux, macOS and Windows. Amazing!

Iridium goes Kickstarter

Already past its initial goal, one of the stretch goals is a Nintendo Switch port.

Game Paradise Version 1.08 goes live on Steam

Game Paradise (Steam version) has a new upgrade, 1.08, available.

Rolling Gunner is coming to Nintendo Switch

Yes. It's absolutely true!

Teaser site is up! While it's already available for Windows it's nice to see a console release too.

Let's hope Play-Asia steps up to the plate and delivers this in a physical edition too!

Some twin-stick action perhaps?

AREA 4643 is a new twin-stick shooter out on Steam, it arrived December 21st for both Windows and macOS. It's also currently on sale!



BulletRage is another twin-sticker but is currently in beta. This one will hit Windows, macOS and Linux on Steam in (I guess) early 2019. Console releases (PS4, Xbox One and Switch) are planned.
