NG DEV Teams end of year news: new shmup coming!

Except for a gaggle of updates about releases shipping (Krautbuaster AES 1st Print starts shipping early 2020 (Collector's Editions first) as does MVS 2nd Printing) NG DEV also revealed they are working on a new shmup:

The next new vertizontal NEOGEO shmup made by our CGI graphics team (Razion/Fast Striker) will be announced for MVS between April and June.

They close out the letter saying that Gunlord X is available worldwide for PlayStation 4 on the Playstation Store/PSN.

R-Type Dimensions hurls itself onto Steam, Switch

R-Type Dimensions is a compilation of R-Type and R-Type II (arcade versions) with enhanced graphics (don't worry, it has original graphics too, instantly switchable when you play) already available for Xbox 360 (XBLA) and PlayStation 3 (PSN Store).



This winter it will hit Steam and Nintendo Switch!

Ketsui on PS4 arrives November 29th

November 29th is the big date when Ketsui Deathtiny arrives on PlayStation 4. It will be a PSN release with 2 DLCs available at release: IKD 2007 Special (2007 CAVE Matsuri version) and VIRT (which is... a soundtrack remix? Google translate doesn't spell it out), DLCs priced at 800 yen a piece. The PSN version itself is 3700 yen.

EDIT: DLC number 2, the "VIRT thing", is definitely a remixed soundtrack.

There will also be a physical release(!) with the DLC included priced at 6800 yen.

I know which one I'm getting... ;)

Tying up June loose ends

First, as we discovered way back in March, Ikaruga has arrived for PlayStation 4. It's available on the PSN store now. There was some snag getting it on the US store apparently but both Euro and JP stores are OK and to the best of my knowledge the snafu has been fixed in the US store by now.

Quad Fighter K has gotten the review treatment from Bullet Heaven:

Super Destronaut DX, a Space Invaders-esque (that's a real word btw) game, is just weeks away from launching on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PS Vita.

The other big fish released today

Ikaruga sailed onto the Nintendo Switch today as expected and it looks like they did a bang-up job with the port.

As I told you back in April, PSP-classic Metal Slug XX was set to return on the PlayStation 4. And it did just that, today. If you have a PlayStation 4 Pro it supports 4K. Yes, really. You'll want to head on over to PSN and grab it. NOW.

I still have my PSP (and PSVita and PSTV) but it's still nice to see a re-release of Metal Slug XX. It will be a PSN release and will launch this summer.

Blast from the past - Sky Force Anniversary

Sky Force Anniversary, a fun but grindy shmup from Poland, is free this month for PlayStation Plus subcribers.

It's available for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita as reported earlier.

Sine Mora EX out on Steam now (Updated: PS4 and XBone too!)

Sine Mora EX is out on Steam now, priced at a reasonable €8. If you bought Sine Mora on Steam before EX got released it's a free download. Great stuff.

Edit: It's also available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as of right now. Switch release is coming later this summer(?).

Sorcer Striker coming to PS4

In what can only be described as a huge news day for shmups, M2 has announced that the third installment of their Shot Trigger series will be arcade shooter Sorcer Striker.

Seeing as Battle Garegga Rev.2016 and Dangun Feveron are the previous titles in the series I think we can expect an excellent port. And it's a game I haven't played either, make sure you have a japanese PSN account to buy these titles!

We already know that Ketsui is in the works in the series as well.

Dariusburst gets YET ANOTHER PHYSICAL RELEASE!

Degice Games just announced that Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours is getting yet another physical release. This time it's the PS Vita version getting the Limited Run Games treatment hot on the heels of the LRG release of the PS4 version of the same game (that sold out in minutes).

I guess we can expect the same insanity this time although physical releases for PS4 and PS Vita are readily available right now from places like Play-Asia.

So to recap: Dariusburst CS is now available on PSN for both PS4 and PS Vita, on Steam, physical releases (Asian and Western) for PS4 and (Asian) PS Vita and is about to get a western physical release for PS Vita.

And lets not forget that Dariusburst (without the Chronicle Saviour moniker) is available for Sonys PSP and Apples iOS.

Evolving from Disco, Ketsui style!

With Dangun Feveron now released on japanese PSN for PS4 M2 just announced that Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi, CAVEs famed bullet hell shooter will be released in the same series. Though no platform was announced it seems logical to assume that this will be a japanese PSN download only game for PS4 just like Battle Garegga REV.2016 and Dangun Feveron.


To me this is one of CAVEs most brutal games. Punishingly difficult but lovely art design and a great soundtrack.

Lets get physical (or not)

If you're itching for a physical copy of Dariusburst Chronical Saviours for PlayStation 4 you can already buy the japanese release from places like Play-Asia.

Or you can pay twice as much for a western release of the same game from Limited Run Games when it goes on sale this friday.

I already own this game from the PSN store on PS4 and PS Vita, have a physical copy for Vita and the Steam release for PC so I'm not exactly gagging at the prospect of paying for it again.

But to each their own!

Disco Inferno!

CAVEs disco-themed shmup Dangun Feveron was announced for PS4 last year but quickly faded from public view when nothing happened after the announcement.


But, suddenly and inexplicably, it launches on the Japanese PSN store this friday!

Ghost Blade HD out on all formats

Hucast's Ghost Blade HD is now out on all the promised formats: PS4, XBone, Wii U and Steam.



After the lacklustre Dreamcast release I'm happy to report that the HD version is a more polished
experience.

Also, arcade stick is supported on PS4 but not on Xbox One. Sad! ;)

DariusBurst:CS Capcom DLC is out now!

Dariusburst: CS sale and DLC release

The 5th DLC will be launching in just under 1 week!
