The shmup machine gets Dragon Blaze

Zerodiv has announced that the next Psikyo game to land on the Nintendo Switch is Dragon Blaze from 2000. It will launch on april 5th in Japan.

Dragon Blaze was previously available on the PlayStation 2.



Also, as reported earlier M2 was going to announce a release date for Dangun Feveron outside Japan and the date is april 4th for both Xbox One and PlayStattion 4. It's looking to be a busy month ahead!

Ikaruga rated for PlayStation 4

German video game censorship watchdog USK has rated Ikaruga for release on PlayStation 4. This would be the first appearance of Ikaruga on a Sony console. For those of you who don't have a Dreamcast, GameCube, Xbox 360 or Xbox One this is great news! One of Treasures finest shmups.

M2STG just tweeted that Dangun Feveron is coming to Xbox One.

Maidens of a Hollow Dream (NSFW) is a new danmaku shooter for PC debuting on March 31st on Steam. This is one of those loli shmups popular in Japan.

Psikyos much-maligned Sol Divide and the decidely super retro Moon Patrol (1982, by Irem) is coming to Switch next week.

Psyvariar coming to Switch

Studio City Connection says they are working to bring the Psyvariar series back to life on Nintendo Switch under the moniker Psyvariar Restoration. Coming this July.

It is unclear if the title will be some sort of compilation or sequel.

Super Hydorah to grace the Switch

Limited Run Games sold out of the physical version of Super Hydorah for PlayStation 4 in about a minute last friday.

The developer behind the game announced they will be bringing it to Nintendo Switch as soon as feasible. Giving LRG (who already announced they will be bringing out Switch software) a chance to make another weekend killing in the future.

In other news Danmaku Unlimited 3 has now launched on the Nintendo Switch.

The production quantity will be round up to the next multiple of 50. Left overs will come as usual at a higher price.

To make the new cartridge easily distinguishable we created a new insert, new cartridge label and manual cover.
Also the holographic sticker clearly shows that it's a new print. Number range >4000.

Software wise it's identically to the first AES print, with the one change that credits can be added via [Select Button] / v1.6

Kraut Buster

Current state of Kraut Buster development:

With the finalboss fight done, we are now in the end phase.
The final boss fight got bigger and cooler than initially planed years ago, for the last phases we gave him a new dramatic scrolling room and a giant golden war vehicle.

One last bigger task is creating and animating the female soldier character (Valeria).

After we have added the 3rd character we can start the final phase of beta testing.

The two pixel artists will then focus on graphical details like
Background animation / destructible objects / parallax scrolling
Funny animations / general detailing / adding more life to the world.

This will take about 6-8 week.

While the 2 pixel artists finish up, the coder will program the intro / ending / menus / highscore screens / WLAN online features etc.

Hardware wise we recently switched to a completely new generation (2.0) of PCBs, FPGAs and MCU to add new hardware features and to further protect our IPs.

All in all this will bring us to an 2nd quarter 2018 release.

VASARA HD Collection coming to PC, consoles next year

VASARA HD Collection will conrtain Vasara 1 and 2, released to arcades in the early 2000s.

PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will all be target platforms.

Or as the press release puts it:
VASARA, a shoot ‘em up developed by Visco Corporation for the Arcades, is coming to PC and Consoles in early 2019. Formerly exclusive to Arcades, QUByte is developing a remastered collection of the two original VASARA games to be released on PC and Consoles in early 2019 as ‘VASARA HD Collection’. VASARA is set in the year 1600 A.D. The current ruler of Japan, Hideyoshi Hashiba has died and Ieyasu Tokugawa is planning on taking over. The three protagonists are trying to keep Tokugawa from succeeding, battling their way through a series of warlords sent by Tokugawa to stop them.
